Sunday, 15th June - Tickets released for the 'Night of 100 Stars'

A fabulous event, see the entry for Monday, 6th October, with the world's best Ballroom and Latin-American dancers showcasing their extraordinary talents at the Copthorne Hotel, Effingham Park. Let us know if you want to attend as we will be reserving tables and securing tickets for this wonderful eveing of entertainment hosted by the Ballroom Dancers' Federation. The price of tickets will be as follows: First row seats - £35, Second row seats - £28, Rover tickets in advance of the event - £20, Rover tickets on the door - £25.   

Thursday, 3rd July - No Cowden classes this evening

As there will be a flower show in the village on the coming weekend the hall will not be available, so if you fancy getting your fix of dancing then join us at Westerham on Monday evening, or Highbrook, near Haywards Heath on Tuesday evening. Whilst the hall is unavailable a group of us will be at Hadlow College, near Tonbridge demonstrating our dancing to the University and College students at their summer ball. 

Saturday, 5th July - Children's classes and private lessons back as normal at Westerham Hall

Having made way last week for an annual flower show, we are back as normal this weekend with all children's classes and private lessons available as normal. See you Saturday!!

Saturday, 12th July - Al fresco dancing at The Broadwalk Ballroom, Regent's Park, London

A chance for all of you to put in practice what you have learned in classes and lessons, an afternoon of al fresco dancing in Regent's Park, London. We understand that a charitable donation of £10 per person is taken with all proceeds going to The Royal Parks Foundation for tree planting in Regent's Park. The tickets are available on arrival and will include a class for beginners between 1pm and 2pm, with social dancing between 2pm and 6pm to music played by a DJ. The location will be The Broadwalk, Avenue Gardens, Outer Circle, Regent's Park, London, NW1 - nearest tube stations are apparently Regent's Park and Great Portland Street. A dance floor is provided and ladies are advised to make sure that high heeled shoes are not sharp and will not cut, scrape or damage the floor.       

Saturday, 12th July - Cowden Summer Dance with the Joe Loss Orchestra

Hot off the press!! Our friends at Cowden have set the date for their Summer Ball and have already booked the fabulous Joe Loss Orchestra with vocalist Todd Miller. If you have never seen or heard them before they can play any type of dance music imaginable from any era and are absolutely super entertainment. The venue will ultimately be Cowden Memorial Hall in the village of Cowden, just south of Edenbridge. Tickets are available at a cost of £15 per person in advance, or £20 each on the night, contact Clive Salmon on 07774 801265, Len Wort on 07876 653664 or contact the Fountain Pub in the village centre. Dress code for gentleman will include collar and tie, a licensed bar will be available during the evening, which will commence at 8pm and run until late. We would recommend booking early as the events that have been hosted by the village have usually been a great deal of fun and well attended.

An afternoon of al fresco Tango dancing in Regent's Park, London. Saturday, 19th July - Under 16's Presentation Party

No normal classes today, as between 10am and 12pm we have our summer medal presentation party, at which all those who took an exam earlier this year will receive their certificates and medals. Lots of fun and games and a few competitions as we are nearing the end of term and the summer holidays, tickets are £6 per person.

An afternoon of al fresco Tango (probably the Argentine Tango) dancing in Regent's Park, London. We understand that a charitable donation of £10 per person is taken with all proceeds going to The Royal Parks Foundation for tree planting in Regent's Park. The tickets are available on arrival and will include a class for beginners between 1pm and 2pm, with social dancing between 2pm and 6pm to music played by DJ Nikki Preddy of Dance Tango and a dance demonstration by a couple yet to be announced. The location will be The Broadwalk, Avenue Gardens, Outer Circle, Regent's Park, London, NW1 - nearest tube stations are apparently Regent's Park and Great Portland Street. A dance floor is provided and ladies are advised to make sure that high heeled shoes are not sharp and will not cut, scrape or damage the floor.

Sunday, 14th September - Supadance League Leg 3

The penultimate match of the year, will the excitement be building as we approach the conclusion of this year's Supadance League Southern Counties team matches? Will we retain our team titles from 2007? Will we be even more successful in 2008? All that can be asked is you try your best!! The dances for each age group, except the Juveniles will be Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba and Samba, Juveniles will dance Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha and Jive. Supporting competitions will be announced as soon as we know them. Venue: Lakeside Country Club & Leisure Complex, Canal Suite, Wharf Road, Frimley Green, Surrey, GU16 6PT.

Monday, 6th October 2008 (to be confirmed) - Demonstration

'The Night of 100 Stars' presented by the Ballroom Dancers' Federation at the Effingham Park Copthorne Hotel, Copthorne, West Park Road, West Sussex, RH10 3EU. A spectacular evening of entertainment from some of the World's best Ballroom and Latin American dancers in cabaret, incredibly inspirational!! Tickets are to be made available from the 15th June 2008 and will be priced as follows: First row seats £35, Second row seats £28, Rover tickets in advance of the event £20, Rover tickets on the night will be £25. Tickets go quickly when released, so talk to Angela if you are keen to join us and we will keep a list of all that are interested in order to secure tickets as soon as available.   

Thursday, 9th October 2008 - 56th 'Open' International Championships at the Royal Albert Hall

No classes at Cowden tonight, as a big group of us will be attending the culmination of competions which commenced earlier this week for a place in the 56th International Championships being danced at the Albert Hall. For all those coming doors at the Albert Hall will open at 5pm and the competition will conclude at 12.30am. Competitions featured will be the International Professional Standard (Ballroom) and Professional Latin and International Amateur Standard and Amateur Latin Championships. Be prepared to be Wowed!! Four tickets are currently available - speak with Frank Fronda on 01689 855775, who has co-ordinated this booking, if you are interested in enjoying this special evening.    

Friday, 10th October - Dinner and Dance with live music from the Joe Loss Orchestra  

A chance to get your glad rags on and practice all your dance moves with the absolutely super Joe Loss Orchestra at the magnificent Oakley House, 358 Bromley Common, Bromley, Kent, BR2 8HA. More details will be made available as soon as we have them. The dance is being organised by Frank Fronda and those wanting to book tickets early, should telephone either Frank in the evenings on 01689 855775 or Jessie Vickers during daytime on 0208 695 0400.  

Sunday, 12th October - Supadance League Leg 4

It's the last team match competing for the title of Southern Counties Champions, before we meet the teams from the North to see if we can win National Titles. Best of Luck!! All we would say is try your best, but most of all enjoy the event and give your fellow team members a big cheer when it's there turn on the floor!! The Juveniles will dance Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha and Jive in their team match, whilst all other age groups will dance Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba and Samba. Supporting competitions will be announced as soon as available. Venue: Lakeside Country Club & Leisure Complex, Canal Suite, Wharf Road, Frimley Green, Surrey, GU16 6PT.  

Sunday, 19th October 2008 - Adults Qualifying heats for Nationwide Medallist of the Year 2009

I.D.T.A South East area medallist competition and qualifying heats for Adults (everyone over the age of 16!!) in Ballroom and Latin-American for next year's Nationwide Medallist of the Year Finals in Blackpool. The venue for the heats/competitions will be at the Olympos Leisure Centre, Pasture Hill Road, Haywards Heath, Sussex, RH16 1LY. Doors open at 8.15am with the first round commencing at 9am, tickets will be priced at £9.50 per person. All entries must be in by the 29th September so let Angela know if you are keen to attend, no entries will be permitted on the day. Will you be one of the top 12 in your age group to represent the South East area at the Nationwide Medallist of the Year 2009 at the fabulous Empress Ballroom in the Wintergardens, Blackpool?      

Friday, 31st October to 3rd November inclusive - 'Supadance National Finals 2008'    

This will be a fantastic weekend of dancing, with an incredible and electric atmosphere, guaranteed to inspire. Pleasingly the venue for this year is back in the South and will be the Pontins Camber Sands Holiday Centre, New Lydd Road, Camber Sands, near Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7RL. Booking forms are unlikely to be available until the middle of 2008. Our teams in 2007 were very successful with our Under 16's, Division 2 Adults and Division 1 and 2 Over 35's all qualifying to dance in the Finals. Will we defend our Title as National Champions for the Division 2 Over 35's? Will we go one better and become the National Champions in Division 2 Adults and Division 1 Over 35's? All those interested we need to register you as competitors as soon as possible.

Sunday, 9th November - Junior/Juvenile Autumn Festival

N.A.T.D Autumn Medallist Festival for Juveniles and Juniors. Another action packed day with singles and couples competitions and loads of fun. More details will be made available as soon as we have them. Venue: K2 Leisure Centre, Pease Pottage Hill, Crawley, RH11 9BQ

Sunday, 16th November - N.A.T.D. Student & Teacher Lecture day and AGM

A day of lectures provided for Teachers and Students wishing to attend in the London area of the N.A.T.D - invaluable source of information, extra choreography for all! Followed by the Annual General Meeting where you can have your say, pose questions etcetera about plans for your area and the events that are available for you. Venue: Faircross Community Complex, Hulse Avenue, Barking, Essex, IG11 9UW.

February 2009 - 15th Camber Sands Dance Festival

Camber Sands Dance Festival. Dates are yet to be confirmed for next year's 15th festival at Camber Sands, but as ever will be, either the beginning or the end of the half term week for those with children of school age. Len Goodman's fabulous weekend of Ballroom and Latin-American dance competitions commences on the Friday evening and concludes on the Sunday evening for those that have won there way through to the Four dance finals for the weekend. A superb weekend with excellent dancing and fun for all the family including fancy dress competitions on the Saturday evening. Saturday, 4th and Sunday 5th April 2009 (inclusive) - Nationwide Medallist of the Year 2009 

I.D.T.A Nationwide Medallist of the Year 2008. National Finals held in the fabulous Empress Ballroom in the Wintergardens, Blackpool. An exciting opportunity to compete for National honours against the top twelve people from each region in England and Wales. Congratulations and best of luck to all those that will have put in such hard work and been successful in securing the chance to participate and hopefully become the Nationwide Medallist of the Year.
